My breaks have been super squeaky for some time now so I thought it was about time to get them checked out. Most places do this for free so I went to the closest place to my office, a local chain called Alton’s. A couple of hours after dropping it off I got the call. It needed a front end break job- new rotors, pads, and calipers. This would cost me about $500.
Since things are already tight financially right now I thought I’d get a second opinion. I picked my car up from Alton’s and dropped it off at Les Schwab for another free inspection. A short time later I got the call - my brakes were squeaky but great. They could spray some anti-squeak stuff on them if I wanted for $25. What the…?!

Get a socket set or continue to take it up the tailpipe.

Ohhh…I’d still be concerned — maybe it’s just the Les Shwab here, but they have made some BIG mistakes on both mine and D’s vehicles. I don’t trust those guys one bit. Hopefull they were right for your sake though…and your pocket book’s sake too.
