Two Sundays ago I was half way through my sermon when an elderly lady (96 years old) in our congregation lost consciousness. The woman sitting next to her (who happened to be a nurse) quickly layed her down on the pew and checked her vitals. She was still breathing but not responsive in any way. I quickly rushed down and proceeded to lead the congregation in prayer for the woman. As soon as we all said “Amen” she sat straight up, looked me in the eyes and said, “I’m ok.” An ambulance that was called ended up taking her to the hospital anyways to run some tests to see what had happened. I haven’t heard the results of the tests but she seems to be in fine health today.
We’ll, the story ended up getting to our local news station with a few modifications. I got a call later in the week from a reporter wanting to cover the story but instead of her being prayed for, the information she had been told was that a member of the congregation administered CPR. Also, somehow it had been reported that out of 80 people in the service only 4 knew CPR. Neither of these ‘facts’ were true. CPR played no role, and I didn’t take a poll of the congregation and ask how many people knew CPR - nor did anyone else. I told the reporter that there was no story about CPR, but she insisted on coming down and interviewing me anyways.

With just a few days left in August I’m gearing up for a month of wedded bliss come September. We’ve got 3 weddings and basically no free weekends this next month.
First up is the Brandenburg wedding this coming weekend.
Second is the wedding of the year, as my Sis marries a very cool guy in Damieon Foster. There will be much rejoicing.
And the last wedding of the month is my good buddy Kevin Porter.
I wish them all the best, as I highly reccomend marriage!

After largely ignoring the Red Bull phenomena at the turn of the century, (sounds like a long time ago eh?) several months ago I started wondering if I was missing something. Everywhere I go these days it seems I spot a new ‘energy’ drink that I’ve never heard of before. Athletes and rappers even have their own brand of them.
So a couple of months ago I tasted my first, a drink my youngest brother seems to love called Rockstar. The first sip didn’t taste so good and neither did the ensuing ones. I waited for the energy to kick in…nothing. All I had was a bad aftertaste and sugar coated teeth. But my curiosity was piqued. Maybe some of the other ones were better.
Here are the ones I’ve tried to date:
Red Bull (the original recipe is from Thailand)
M-150 (this is actually only found in Thailand)
Green Dragon (seems to be the Shasta of energy drinks)
Vault
Amp
Jeff Gordon Tangerine Energy Drink (I had to)
Besides the Jeff Gordon one, all of them have tasted virtually the same. Most of them have the same ingredients: Caffeine, Taurine, Ginseng, lots of Sugar, citrus flavor, and some kind of vitamins to make you think it’s healthy. (For reviews of energy drinks go here ). If all you want is to be hopped up on caffeine, a 16 oz cup of coffee has more than most energy drinks. If you want vitamins eat fruit.
How I miss the good old days of Jolt.

Everyone likes free music!
Go here to download the newest album from the Robbie Seay Band. All you have to do is sign up for a couple of newsletters.
If you haven’t heard of them it’s what I imagine a Peter Gabriel worship album would sound like. Except not as good.

We’re back!
After nearly 30 hours of traveling we entered our abode this morning at 3 and managed to convince Jude to sleep at 5 - that’s AM! It was an amazing time in Thailand. Pictures, stories, and thoughts will be coming soon or you can give me a ring on the ancient device called a telephone.
