A local celebrity passed away last night.
Bill the Chimpanzee had lived to the ripe old age of 61 (a year younger than my Dad) and went quietly last night. Bill was believed to be one of the oldest Chimps in captivity. I have a lot of memories of trying to provoke him as a kid and dodge the poo that was sure to be flung. RIP ol’ buddy.

Okay seriously though how often did you actually see Bill? Seems like everytime I was there he wasn’t out in his little area. I think he probably went to Animal Heaven a long time ago and they just kept stinkin somebody else in there every now and then.

Well, I’ve been going to the zoo for 28 years so I saw him quite a bit. Although he hasn’t been out as much recently. One time he threw his poop at a kid. Good times.

The groundhogs (which are now gone) and Bill were the highlights of the Zoo. Won’t be the same without him. I saw him nearly everytime I went. The last time I was at the zoo (a few months back) I took a video of him. I will miss Bill.
