Thinking…
Everyone’s is different.
What’s your purpose for living?
What motivates you to wake up, go to work, come home and do it all over again?
Throw down your thoughts in the comments.
Postman R2-D2
You know you’re mail’s in good hands when ‘ol R2’s got it!
Yes, that’s right. In an attempt to spice up the old mail service business the U.S. Postal service has ordered 400 mailboxes be made in the image of you’re favorite droid R2-D2 and distributed to 200 cities throughout the country. And so the blurring between reality and fiction continues in our country and Star Wars fans are able to cling to ‘a new hope’ of their fan mail actually reaching Yoda.
P.S.
This ranks right up there with the city of Philadelphia having a statue of Rocky Balboa as if he were a real hero of their town.
Robert Goulet?!
I’m sure you’ve all heard the statement, “Life imitates art.”
Several years ago Will Ferrell and SNL did some funny parodies of the man, the legend, Robert Goulet. Well apparently Mr. Goulet is back on the scene. Powered by a Super Bowl commercial a couple of months ago, Goulet is turning into today’s hottest TV spokesperson. His recent adds for ESPN are strikingly reminiscent of the parody that Will did. Check them out for yourself.

YouTube Parody
I’ve seen quite a few take-offs on the MAC/PC commercials. This one produced by a church is pretty amusing.
Cheap Music, Free Music
Whilst I sit here on my day off, in front of the computer, cup of coffee in hand, wind and rain beating against the window - I can’t help but wonder how amazing it would be if music were free. I mean, it is free, but how awesome would it be if other people’s music was free?! Most likely I would spend far too much time listening and exploring.
Thanks to the internet though, there is a plethora of ways to listen to music for free and purchase it for very cheap. Here are a few online music destinations to check out:
Free: Remedy Drive is offering a free download of their album “Rip Open The Skies” here.
Free: You can listen to newly released albums for free at AOL Music here. They change the selection frequently and it’s a good way to sneak a peak at an album. You’re able to listen to full tracks and nost just snippets. Right now you can listen to the latest by Joss Stone, Modest Mouse, and Young Buck among others.
Cheap: A very cool site for independent musicians is Amie Street. Songs start free and rise in price the more they are purchased. You can listen for free, buy whole albums for a few dollars or less, or single songs for mere cents.
Also if you listen to Pandora (which I’ve mentioned in a previous blog) and are looking for a good 90’s R&B mix I highly recommend Blackstreet Radio. Jess and I have been diggin the high school flashbacks that era of music gives us.
I’ve recently finished linking my PC with my TV (they’re in different rooms) so that I can completely take advantage of all that high-speed internet has to offer. “I love technology!” A fun little gadget that I picked up recently allows you to send a WiFi signal from your PC or anything with a 1/8″ jack (like an ipod) to your stereo. You can pick it up here for a lot cheaper than the $150 it retails for. If you’re a music lover the internet is a wonderful playground and getting better.
My Bro
After spending 2 months in Zambia my brother Ben is returning to his homeland this weekend. There will be much rejoicing this St. Patricks Day. Below is a pic with him and a little kid wearing his hat…love it.

Free Coffee!
Oh Yeah!
Word on the street is that Starbucks is giving away free coffee tomorrow morning from 10-12 AM. Actually it’s not really the word on the street but the word on the internet. So if anyone wants to meet at the 5th street Starbucks give me a holla.
Tonight!
The West Region Tournament starts today and Humboldt’s game vs. Alaska Anchorage is at 8 PM tonight. I’ve actually spent the last two days with the Alaska team as their host for the tournament, taking them to their hotel, practice, and the tournament banquet last night. It’s been fun to be a part of the whole tournament and get to know the guys but I hope they get destroyed by HSU tonight!
Jesus Camp
If you’ve grown up in a charasmatic, evangelical church or currently attend one, then you need to see the documentary Jesus Camp. There was some controversy in various christian circles about this movie but I thought it was much better made and less biased than a Michael Moore documentary and very accurately captured the type of enviroment that I was raised in.
I prepared myself to be disgusted and angry but actually felt more nostalgic and challenged than anything. While I don’t agree with the majority of the subjects who were focused on in the film, I think there is a lot to be said for the passion they have which seems to be lacking in a lot of mainstream denominations today.
With that said producers did have an agenda - try and link the zealous nature of an evangelical fringe group to the same zealous nature of extreme muslisms. Also there were allusions that the kids in the movie were being brainwashed. What do you think? Check out the movie.
