Congatulations to Mike and Adrienne on the birth of Rosabel Jane who will one day wed baby boy Fouche!
Baby Davis!
6 weeks to go
Some of you have been asking for a recent pic of my beautiful pregnant wife so here you go.
Wonder-ful
The greatest R&B singer ever… probably one of the worst music videos ever.
Besides the wierd african dancers keep an eye out for the lady wearing just a shirt. Unfortunately the long shirt with a belt look would take off in the 80’s and eventually be coupled with the stirrup pants.
CRASH
This last weekend was a good one.
We had a college retreat that I was part of organizing along with 4 other college leaders from other churches. It was the first time an event that brought together 15 different churches has ever happened like this. We had a decent showing and a good time as we overlooked denominational boundaries and focused on what we all had in common - Jesus. People are already asking if it’s going to happen next year.
In other ministry/job related news I’m personally excited about a new service we’re launching on Sunday nights that we’re calling The Well. The setting will be more chill and inviting than a typical Sunday morning and I’m hoping that it will end up being a place where unchurched people feel more at home.
A late night poem to leave you with:
Troubled by apathy
Surrounded by selfishness
Suffocated with air
I still know you’re there
Broken by desire
Confused with the direction
Addicted to death
You give me breath
Hoplessly hungry
Not knowing why
I look all around me
And find you
Still close by
Music
Even though it came out in 2005 my R&B pick of the year is Ain’t Nobody Worryin’ by Anthony Hamilton.
Although there’s a bit too much swing in styles (from old skool to gospel to new skool) there is a depth to the lyrics that surpasses John Legend.

‘Tis the Season
So with just 2 months to go until little Foosh arrives Jess and I were realizing that we are not alone in this child expectant time of life.
Right now we know of 7 couples that are good friends of ours that will be having a baby sometime in the next 7 months.
Crazy!

Labor Day Weekend
We had an awesome Labor Day weekend with friends on Trinity Lake.
We spent two nights on the Kemps houseboat and ate good food and water skied in some hot weather. Our route home was changed due to a forest fire that closed the highway down so we had another adventure taking the backroads to Eureka. All in all a very good time and probably the last getaway before another kind of “labor day”.

The latest
Here’s my latest Op-Ed piece published by the Eureka Reporter.
It won’t mean much of anything unless you’re local and familar with the issue.
