Rappers Delight Club

There’s an after school program where the teacher has used samples from Sufjan Stevens and soundtracks from Wes Anderson films, and has his kids rap over them. When I say kids, I mean little kids.
Check out the hot tracks brought to you by the Rappers Delight Club here.

Eureka

So there’s a new series on the Sci-Fi Channel called ‘Eureka.’ Although not filmed here in my home town the setting is supposed to be a small town in the Pacific Northwest. Coincidence? I think not.

Jess and I watched part of an episode online the other night and it was pretty bad.

Nature Calls

You never know what you’ll see around the hills of Humboldt County.
This guy couldn’t hold it any longer and obviously didn’t give a rip that public pooping is against the law.

Rock and Roll

We’ve had two early morning earthquakes in the last 2 weeks. The more recent one was a 5.0 this morning at 4:41. Jess and I woke to the house shaking and she said, “I hate earthquakes” and I rolled over and went back to sleep.
Earthquakes or Hurricanes? Earthquakes all the way.

Pray

Back in September of 2001 I was getting ready to leave Ghana with two friends to spend some time in Lebanon and Israel. On September 11th those plans changed. I just got an email yesterday from our contact in Lebanon who is a strong Christian. I’ve omitted his name and number for obvious safety reasons.

Please Pray
They are bombing all around us. Very close…
We need to find a way to leave to a safer place.
We have one car with so many people to put in… pray that we find
someone to help with transportation…..
J***
The bridge next to our house is destroyed.
I’m not sure if we can write again for some time, but here is a mobile

Body Builder, Actor, Governor

I really don’t think this subject gets written on enough.

I remember a line from Back to the Future where the Dr. Emmit Brown is grilling Marti McFly about the future.
He asks, “Who is President?”
Marti replies “Ronald Reagan.”
“The Actor? Ridiculous!”

I have to imagine that if someone from the 80’s were to ask who the governor of California is and I said Schwarzenegger, it would be considered so ridiculous it wouldn’t even be funny. Now I have to admit, the guy hasn’t done a bad job. I mean, we’re no worse off then we were a couple of years ago.

In thinking about his previous occupation I often reflect on the Governor’s stand on certain issues in relation to his movies.

Conan the Barbarian: He conquered an empire with his sword. She conquered HIM with her bare hands.
Policy: Comfortable prisons for non-violent female offenders.

Terminator: In the Year of Darkness, 2029, the rulers of this planet devised the ultimate plan. They would reshape the Future by changing the Past. The plan required something that felt no pity. No pain. No fear. Something unstoppable. They created ‘THE TERMINATOR’
Policy: It was the year of darkness, 2003, and the ruler of California, Grey Davis was about to meet something that felt no pity. No pain. No fear. Something unstopabble, they called him ‘The Governator’

Predator: A team of commandos, on a mission in a Central American jungle, find themselves hunted by an alienwarrior.
Policy: Close the borders and keep those aliens out!

Kindergarten Cop:A tough cop is given his most difficult assignment: masquerade as a a kindergarten teacher in order to find a drug dealer.
Policy:Belives in restoring Physical Education and some…uh, other stuff to schools.

Junior: As part of a fertility research project, a male scientist agrees to carry a pregnancy in his own body.
Policy: Supports a womans (or mans) right to chose.

The Running man: A wrongly-convicted man must try to survive a public execution gauntlet staged as a TV game show.
Policy: Is for the death penalty.

Today is our 3rd Anniversary!

Us

Happy Anniversary Jess - my love for you only grows each year. It’s kind of funny thinking that what I called love over 3 years ago looks almost childish compared to what I feel now!
