Yup, we’re leaving the one horse town of Eureka and heading to the uhhh no horse town of Fields Landing! Where is Fields Landing you ask? Actually, it’s just a couple minutes south of Eureka. After apartment living for the last 3 years we’re moving up to a duplex (the next step is a trailer). The new place is a bit bigger and has a sweet view of the bay - I’ll post some pics next week.

Caucasian Food
So the McDonalds by our apartment has been advertising on their sign for the new ‘Asian Salad’ recently and it got me thinking. There’s Asian Food, Soul Food, Latin, etc. Why isn’t their a classification of food called Caucasian? Which leads to the next most obvious question, what would that be? If McDonalds had a Caucasian salad what would be on it?
Here’s my recipe for an awesome McCasian Salad:
A Bed of Iceberg Lettuce
Wonder Bread - crumbled
Sliced hot dogs
Parmesan Cheese
Ketchup and Mayo
If you have a recipe you’d like to share throw it down in the comments.
Monday’s Dose of (past) Pop Culture
If I were to chose one music video that summed up the hilarious awesome-ness of the 80’s, it would be Seperate Ways by Journey.
The deep imagery is captured in an empty boatyard while band members go back and forth between real instruments and invisible ones. Meanwhile a random 80’s chick walks around for no apparent reason and lead singer Steve Perry puts on a performance that rivals any Oscar worthy actor.
Check it here.

Hipster? Yeah.
So lately I’ve been on a pretty major funk/jazz/hiphop trip. I’ve always been into hip-hop but my love affair started late after being kept in the dark about it for most of my childhood. When I did start to explore the world of hip-hop I didn’t jump right onto the current pop charts, I went back and dove into the roots of it with groups like Sugar Hill Gang, Grandmaster Flash, & The Furious Five.
I got into the more mainstream stuff in the mid-90’s enjoying Tupac, West Side Connection, and Biggy but after two of said artists were killed and the music became increasingly poppy, commercial, and image focused I haven’t listened to it much.
So again I find myself going back in time. Exploring some past favorites and checking out some newer (yet still throwback) more instrumental grooves as well.

Moving
Well we finally found a new place and are done with apartment living, hopefully forever. We hooked up with a nice little place just south of Eureka in Fields Landing. It’s a duplex that has a big porch that overlooks the bay. This will be the casa that baby Fouche is born in. If you want to help us move in a few weeks then drop me a line.
Speaking of Baby if you haven’t voted on what it’s going to be yet than you have a few more days to do so. We find out what sex the child is this Thursday. Blogging to follow.
Wedding Pictures
A bit late I know but you can check out a few pictures from Nate and Tasha’s wedding here, compliments of Jonathan Thrasher.
Monday’s Dose of Pop Craziness
Here are two humorous items taken from today’s pop culture.
My favorite beer commercials of late have been the “Man Law” ones done by Miller Lite. Take a gander.
Wierd Al Yankovic was wildly popular back in the late 80’s early 90’s and I haven’t heard that much from him recently. Apparently he’s still dropping tracks and has remade James Blunt’s annoying diddy which you can listen to here.
Campaign Kickoff
I of all people was probably the most surprised yesterday when I found out our very own Governor was kicking off his re-election campagin at the Samoa Cookhouse in Eureka.
While you were safe in America…
…I was in Toronto where 12 terrorists were arrested. Apparently Islamic extremists don’t like the Canadians either. Maybe they see Canada as the 51st state too?!
